The Green Room
“Deal,” I breathed, the word barely audible over the sudden, frantic pounding of my heart.
“Deal,” I breathed, the word barely audible over the sudden, frantic pounding of my heart.
Jamie’s hand lingered on my cheek for a beat longer, his thumb brushing across my cheekbone in a gesture that felt strangely tender, grounding. Then he was moving, his weight shifting on the narrow mattress as he leaned over to rummage in his duffel bag, his movements unhurried, deliberate. The soft rasp of the zipper sounded unnaturally loud in the quiet room, punctuated only by the low, mournful howl of the wind outside.
I watched him, my nerves a tangled knot in my stomach, as he pulled out a small, clear bottle. Lubricant. The sight of it sent a fresh wave of anxiety washing over me, cold and prickling, but it was quickly followed by a surge of something else – a low, insistent thrum of curiosity that pooled warmth in my gut.
“Got it,” Jamie murmured, setting the bottle on the rickety nightstand beside the lamp. The faded label was peeling at one corner, the writing too small for me to make out in the dim light. He turned back to me, his expression serious but not unkind. “Remember, we go at your pace. Anytime you want to pause, or stop entirely, you just say the word. Alright?”
I swallowed hard, my throat tight. “Alright.”
He smiled, a small, reassuring quirk of his lips, before reaching for the hem of my hoodie. “This might be easier if we lose a few layers,” he said, his voice a low, steady rumble. “More skin contact. Warmer, too. You okay with that?”
I nodded, not quite trusting my voice. Together, we wriggled out of our tops, letting them fall in a heap at the foot of the bed. The air was still biting cold against my bare skin, but the heat radiating from Jamie’s body seemed to intensify as he settled back against me, the sparse scattering of dark hair on his chest tickling my back.
His hands, when they settled on my hips, were warm and dry, his touch light but sure. He didn’t immediately go for my jeans, instead trailing his fingertips along the waistband, the sensation making me shiver in a way that had nothing to do with the temperature.
“Still okay?” he murmured, his breath ghosting warm against the nape of my neck.
“Yeah,” I managed, the word coming out a little breathless. “Yeah, I’m good.”
He took his time, his touch never rushed, never demanding. It was only when I felt myself relax against him, the tension in my muscles easing a fraction, that he let his fingers drift lower, popping the button on my jeans with a deft flick of his wrist. The zipper sounded like a gunshot in the quiet room, each tooth releasing with a soft, metallic purr.
I lifted my hips slightly, my breath catching as he eased the worn denim down my thighs, taking my boxers with them. The cold air hit my bare skin like a physical touch, but Jamie was already tossing the clothes aside, pulling the thin blanket back up to cover us, his body curling around mine once more.
“Nice and slow,” he reminded me, his voice a low, steady anchor in the swirling tide of my thoughts. “Just like we talked about.”
I felt him reach for the bottle, heard the soft click of the cap twisting open. There was a beat of silence, and then the cool slickness of lubricated fingers touched the curve of my ass, making me jerk slightly in surprise.
“Easy,” Jamie murmured, his other hand stroking a soothing path up and down my spine. “Just getting you used to the feel. Tell me if it’s too cold.”
It was, a little, but the shock of it quickly faded, replaced by the strange, slippery glide of his touch as he circled, a slow, maddening rhythm that had my breath hitching in my throat. He was meticulous, patient, tracing the sensitive skin with a feather-light pressure that made sparks dance along my nerve endings.
“Okay?” he checked in, his voice a low rumble against my back.
“Yeah,” I gasped, the word escaping on a shaky exhale. “Yeah, it’s… it’s good.”
He kept going, his touch never straying from that slow, careful circling, until I felt myself relax again, my body sinking deeper into the thin mattress. Only then did he shift, his touch dipping lower, the slick pad of his finger brushing over my entrance with the lightest of pressures.
I stiffened instinctively, my breath catching in my throat, but Jamie didn’t push, didn’t try to breach. He just stayed there, a silent, patient presence, his touch a constant, reassuring anchor.
“Breathe, Leo,” he reminded me softly, his breath warm against the back of my neck. “Just breathe. I’m not going anywhere. We’re not doing anything you don’t want to do.”
I forced myself to obey, inhaling deeply, letting the air fill my lungs before releasing it slowly. As I did, I felt the tension in my muscles start to ease, my body sinking back against the solid warmth of Jamie’s chest.
“That’s it,” he praised, his voice a low, soothing rumble. “Just like that.”
He stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, his touch a constant, patient pressure against me, until the last of my apprehension melted away, replaced by a low, insistent thrum of want that pooled heat in my gut. Only then did he start to increase the pressure, just a fraction, the tip of his finger beginning to ease inside me.
The stretch was immediate, a strange, unfamiliar fullness that made my breath catch all over again. It wasn’t pain, not exactly, but it was intense, a sharp, electric sensation that hovered right on the edge of too much.
“Jamie,” I gasped, my voice tight.
He froze instantly, his body going perfectly still behind me. “Too much?” he asked, his voice calm, steady, no trace of disappointment or frustration.
I shook my head, my breathing shallow. “No, just… give me a second.”
He did, waiting with infinite patience as I focused on relaxing, on breathing through the strange, overwhelming sensation. Slowly, so slowly I almost didn’t notice it happening, my body began to adjust, the sharp stretch easing into something else, something that made a soft, punched sound escape my lips.
“Okay?” Jamie murmured, his free hand stroking my hip in a soothing rhythm.
“Okay,” I breathed, the word barely audible. “Keep going.”
He did, his touch still agonizingly slow, still careful. He worked me open with a patience that made my head spin, each fraction of an inch a shared victory, punctuated by my soft, breathy gasps. He checked in constantly, his voice a low, steady stream of reassurance and encouragement that kept me grounded, kept me from floating away entirely on the tide of sensation.
By the time he had one finger fully inside me, moving with a slow, careful twist of his wrist that made my toes curl, I was a mess of breathless affirmations and pleas for more. He obliged, adding a second finger with the same painstaking care, stretching me open with a patient deliberation that was driving me slowly out of my mind.
The world narrowed down to the narrow bed, the soft creak of the springs, the warmth of Jamie’s body against my back, and the slick, steady thrust of his fingers inside me. Everything else faded away – the cold, the howling wind, the dingy lodge room – until there was only this, only him, only the dizzying climb toward something I couldn’t name but wanted with every fiber of my being.
The release wasn't the toe-curling finish I’d imagined but a quiet shudder, a deep pulse that left me breathless. A soft sound escaped me, then shaky, disbelieving laughter bordering on tears.
Jamie withdrew carefully, his touch gentle. His arms encircled me almost immediately, pulling me flush against his chest, face buried in my neck. We lay silently for a long moment, only the wind, creaking springs, and my slowing heartbeat audible. His fingers tangled gently in my hair, stroking my forehead with unexpected tenderness.
“Hey,” he murmured, voice rough. “You okay?”
I nodded, throat tight. “Yeah. I’m good. Really good.”
He chuckled, warm and vibrating through me. “Good. That’s good, Leo.”
We breathed together, shared warmth defying the icy air. Eventually, Jamie grabbed the water bottle, sipped, and offered it. “Hydrate.”
I drank gratefully. He resumed stroking my hair. “You did so good,” he whispered, lips brushing my ear. “So, so good, Leo. You made me so proud.”
The words sent warmth washing through me. “Thanks for being patient,” I mumbled, flushing. “For not laughing when I freaked out.”
Jamie snorted softly. “I wouldn’t. Never. Not about this.”
Silence fell again, warm and comfortable. The wind died to a moan, dawn painting the wall in watery grey and icy blue. Between us, under the thin blanket, it felt warm. Safe. Real.
Jamie’s breathing evened out, body growing heavy. I knew I should let him sleep, but couldn’t move. I lay listening, feeling his heartbeat.
My first time had been everything I’d hoped for, feared, needed.
A shaky laugh escaped. Jamie stirred, arm tightening. “Mmph?”
“Nothing,” I whispered. “Go back to sleep.”
He grumbled assent, breathing evening. Sleep pulled at me too. Just before I slipped under, Jamie stirred, lips brushing my neck. “G’night, Leo.”
I smiled. “Night, Jamie.”
The last thing I saw was the falling snow, the world a swirling white void. But I didn’t feel lost. I felt found.
