Privacy policy

Information we handle

• Accounts: email address, pen name, password hash, email-verification status, account timestamps, and session or account-recovery records. Authentication tokens are stored in hashed form on the server; your browser receives the session cookie needed to stay signed in.
• Your writing: drafts, stories, chapters, summaries, categories, tags, publication choices, and moderation feedback. Drafts and review material are private account records; approved stories and their pen names and metadata are public when publication is permitted.
• Reading preferences: saved stories, reading progress and history, ratings, and reader display settings. Guest preferences are stored in this browser. When you are signed in, preferences can be stored with your account so you can use them across sessions.
• Safety and support: report URLs, report reasons, details you submit, an optional reply email, case references, review decisions, and correspondence.
• Technical and security information: requests, timestamps, browser and connection information, and IP addresses or derived security identifiers used by hosting, security checks, and rate limits.

A story theme or reading choice is not proof of a person's identity, sexual orientation, or beliefs. We do not use reading history to infer sensitive personal traits.

How we use it

We use this information to create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, recover access, save your work and preferences, record your adult-access declaration, review submissions and reports, deliver permitted published stories, respond to requests, and protect people and the service from abuse.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the relevant basis depends on the purpose: providing the service you request, meeting legal obligations, protecting legitimate operational and security interests, or obtaining consent where required. Optional analytics is a separate choice and is not a condition of having an account.

Cookies and browser storage

An essential session cookie keeps you signed in, and an essential adult-access cookie records your confirmation that you are 18 or older. Browser storage saves guest reading preferences and optional analytics choices. Clearing cookies or browser storage removes the corresponding browser-held choices and may require you to make them again. It does not delete account information held on the server.

Archiving a story or signing out is not an account-deletion request. To request deletion of account data or reading history held by Erotific, contact help@erotific.com.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is optional. After adult confirmation, it is on by default in regions where our regional policy permits it, unless you have turned it off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. In opt-in regions, or if your location cannot be determined, the Google tag stays unloaded until you choose to turn analytics on. Our hosting provider uses your connection to determine an approximate country and, where needed, U.S. state; this location is used only to choose the consent default and is not added to analytics events. You can turn analytics off or change your choice at any time through Privacy settings.

Optional analytics is limited to generic public pages with neutral, sanitized labels and technical browser information. Individual story, author, and category pages, searches, and private account, authoring, authentication, report, and review pages are excluded. We do not send Google Analytics your email, pen name, account identifier, reading history, saved stories, ratings, search text, story text, or story titles. We do not use Google Analytics advertising personalization or build advertising audiences from your visits.

When analytics is on, Google may use analytics cookies and identifiers. This is not a promise that analytics data is anonymous. Google's handling is described in its Privacy Policy. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection by this site; requests about previously collected data can be sent to help@erotific.com.

Providers and disclosures

OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure, including Cloudflare services, process information needed to host and secure Erotific and store its application data. Configured email and support services process the contact details and messages needed for verification, recovery, moderation, support, and reports. Google receives optional analytics data when analytics is enabled under the regional policy or your explicit choice. A saved opt-out and Global Privacy Control take priority over the regional default.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Reserved advertising spaces do not change your analytics choice. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal request, protect someone's safety or rights, or investigate abuse. Reports are handled as private review records, but confidentiality cannot be guaranteed against a lawful disclosure requirement. We aim to share only the information needed for the purpose.

Retention and security

Account details, writing, and preferences are kept while needed to provide your account and the features you use. Support, report, moderation, and security records may be kept as needed to resolve cases and appeals, prevent repeated abuse, meet legal obligations, and establish or defend rights.

Deletion requests are reviewed individually. We may need to retain limited records for a specific legal or security reason; if so, we will explain the relevant limitation when responding. Deletion from active systems may precede expiry from provider backups. We do not promise automatic deletion on a fixed timetable or that removing a public story erases copies made independently by others.

Access controls, hashed authentication records, and security limits help protect information. No storage or transmission method is guaranteed to prevent every incident.

Your choices and requests

Depending on the law where you live, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of personal data, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant privacy regulator. You can also ask us to review a response you believe is wrong. These rights may have legal exceptions.

Email help@erotific.com with the request and, if relevant, the account email or case reference. We will review the request and respond within applicable legal time limits. We may verify control of an account through its email address or ask for the minimum additional information needed to handle the request safely. Do not send a government ID, password, full birth date, payment-card information, or sensitive documents.

For optional analytics, use Privacy settings to reject or withdraw consent. You do not need to agree to optional analytics to submit a privacy or safety request.

International readers and age protection

Erotific is operated from the United States. Hosting, email, and other providers may process information in the United States or other countries, where protections can differ. Contact help@erotific.com for information about the arrangements relevant to your request. Where applicable law requires transfer safeguards, those requirements must be met; using the site does not waive your privacy rights.

The reading and writing service is for people aged 18 or older. Safety-reporting and policy pages remain available to people who need to raise a concern. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may restrict access and review what information should be removed or retained for safety or legal reasons.
