Black Hills Redemption

His proximity was intoxicating. The heat radiating from his body, the sheer physicality of him, the raw honesty in his eyes—it was too much. Too tempting. Gia’s breath hitched. “Rook…” His name was a whisper, a plea, a warning.

He cupped her face with surprising gentleness, his calloused thumb brushing over her lower lip. “Tell me to stop, Gia,” he murmured, his breath heating her mouth. “Tell me this isn’t what you want.”

She should. God, she should. He was everything she’d sworn to avoid—club, danger, complication. But her body betrayed her, leaning into his touch, her lips parting under his thumb. “I… I can’t,” she breathed.

His kiss was searing, possessive, stealing her breath and igniting a fire low in her belly. His arms banded around her, lifting her against him, and she wrapped her legs around his hips, craving the contact. He carried her to the Softail, setting her on the wide seat, never breaking the kiss. His hands roamed, rough and demanding, sliding under her t-shirt, cupping her breasts, thumbs rasping over her nipples through the thin fabric of her bra. She arched into his touch, a moan escaping her.

“Not here,” he growled against her mouth, pulling back just enough to speak. His eyes were dark with need, his chest heaving. “I want you in a bed, Gia. I want to take my time.”

The ride to the secluded cabin he’d booked for the rally was a blur of winding roads and pent-up desire. The small log structure was nestled in the pines, isolated and private. Inside, Rook’s control snapped. He pinned her against the door, his mouth claiming hers in a brutal, branding kiss. Clothes were shed in a frenzy of desperate hands and urgent whispers—her cut-off shorts, his leather cut, her tank top, his faded t-shirt, until they stood skin to skin, breathing hard.

“Fuck, Gia,” he rasped, his eyes raking over her, hot and hungry. “You’re so goddamn beautiful.” His hands were everywhere, shaping her curves, teasing her sensitive skin, leaving trails of fire in their wake. He lifted her easily, wrapping her legs around his waist as he carried her to the bed.

He laid her down on the cool sheets, covering her body with his. His weight was delicious, anchoring her in the moment. He kissed his way down her throat, over her collarbone, lingering on her breasts, sucking and nibbling until she writhed beneath him, her fingers pressing into his broad shoulders. “Rook, please…” she gasped, her hips rocking against his hardness.

“Please what, baby?” he murmured against her skin, his hand sliding down her trembling stomach to cup her mound. “Tell me what you need.”

“You,” she breathed, her voice trembling with need. “I need you inside me.”

He groaned, his fingers delving into her slick heat, stroking her with expert precision. “I need to hear you say it, Gia,” he rasped, his eyes locked on hers, dark and intense. “I need to know you’re mine. That this is real.”

The words sent a thrill through her, primal and undeniable. “I’m yours, Rook,” she whispered, her voice heavy with emotion. “I want to be yours. Completely.”

His control shattered. He settled between her thighs, the thick head of his cock nudging her entrance. He entered her in one deep, powerful thrust, filling her, stretching her, claiming her. She cried out at the exquisite fullness, her body clenching around him, welcoming him home. He stilled, buried to the hilt, his forehead pressed to hers. “Mine,” he growled, his voice rough with possession. “My woman. My old lady.”

He moved then, setting a relentless rhythm, each thrust deep and deliberate, stoking the fire inside her higher and higher. She met him stroke for stroke, her legs wrapped tight around his hips, her nails scoring his back. The world narrowed to the slide of his body against hers, the harsh sound of their breathing, the electric friction where they joined. Pleasure coiled low in her belly, tightening, intensifying, until it crested in a blinding wave of ecstasy. She came with a cry, her body shattering around him, her vision blurring.

Rook followed her over the edge with a guttural roar, his body shuddering against hers as he emptied himself deep inside her. He collapsed onto her, his weight warm and solid, his face buried in the curve of her neck. They lay like that for long moments, sweat-slicked and sated, hearts pounding in sync.

Afterwards, in the quiet intimacy of the cabin, they talked. Really talked. Curled together under the sheets, Rook’s arms wrapped around her, Gia’s head pillowed on his chest, they shared secrets and dreams. Rook spoke of his regrets, the violence he’d witnessed and inflicted, his desire for a life beyond the club’s shadow. Gia opened up about her father, his legacy, her fears of losing the shop, of failing him. They found common ground in their shared need for redemption, for a place to belong.

Gia traced idle patterns on his chest, marveling at the tenderness of this hard man. “What happens now?” she whispered, her voice faint in the stillness.

Rook’s arms tightened around her. “Now,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to her hair, “we figure it out together. You’re mine, Gia Pepe. And I protect what’s mine.”

The piercing wail of Rook’s phone shattered the peace of the cabin. He stiffened, instantly alert. Snatching the phone, his brow furrowed as he listened.

Gia sat up, clutching the sheet. “What is it?”

Rook’s expression was grim. “Vipers. They hit the clubhouse. Hard.” He yanked on his jeans. “Mack’s down. Bullet grazed his shoulder. Others are worse.”

Horror washed over Gia. “Oh god. Is he—?”

“He’ll live,” Rook cut in, pulling on his cut. “But it’s bad. They came in hot, took out two prospects. Broke through before anyone could mount a defense.” His eyes met hers, dark with conflict. “They’re my brothers. My family.”

The unspoken weight of his duty hung heavy. The club needed him. But he was here with her.

“Go,” Gia said, her voice steady despite her trembling hands. “Your club needs you. Mack needs you.”

Rook hesitated. “My orders were to protect *you*, Gia. Mack’s orders.”

“And Mack needs you now!” Gia took a breath. “I’m safe here. You said the Vipers wouldn’t expect it.” She reached for him. “I’m not your responsibility right now. Your brothers are.”

His jaw tightened. “I can’t leave you unprotected.”

“You’re not,” Gia insisted, dressing. “You’re making sure your club is strong. That’s protecting me too.” She injected steel into her voice. “I’ll be right here when you get back.”

Rook closed his eyes briefly. Decision made, he cupped her face. “Stay inside. Doors locked. Don’t open them for anyone but me. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” His kiss was hard, desperate. “I love you, Gia Pepe.”

The words stole her breath. “I—”

He silenced her with another kiss. “Tell me when I get back.” And then he was gone, his bike’s roar fading.

Gia sank onto the bed, touching her tingling lips. He loved her. And he’d chosen his club—not because she meant less, but because his duty ran deep, and he trusted her strength.

Hours stretched into eternity. Gia paced, jumping at every sound. When Rook’s bike finally rumbled outside, she flew to the door. “Rook! Are you okay? Is Mack—?”

He caught her, holding her tight. He smelled of smoke and blood. “I’m okay. Mack’s gonna be fine. Clubhouse is secure.” He pulled back. “You? Any trouble?”

“None. I’m fine.” She touched dried blood on his jaw. “But you’re not.”

“Not mine,” he said, guiding her inside. After washing up, his expression shuttered. “Mack’s… not happy I left you.”

Gia frowned. “He’s pissed you came to help?”

“He’s pissed I left my post.” Rook’s voice was flat. “Says I chose wrong. That my loyalty should’ve been to his orders.” He ran a hand over his hair. “He’s questioning if I’m still fit for my patch. If my head’s still in the game.”

Gia felt defensive anger. “That’s bullshit, Rook. You did the right thing.”

“Maybe.” Rook sighed. “Or maybe Mack’s right. Maybe I can’t be both. Maybe I can’t be his enforcer and be yours too.” He met her gaze, doubt flickering. “He wants me back at the clubhouse. Tonight. To help secure things. And to talk.”

“Talk?” Gia whispered. “About what?”

Rook didn’t answer, the distance between them a chasm. The trust they’d built felt fragile. Had she been wrong to push him? The unspoken question hung heavy. What if loving her meant losing his place in the only family he’d ever known?

The silent question pressed between them, a dense fog of unvoiced words. What if loving her meant losing his place in the only family he’d ever known? Rook’s face stayed a closed book, the burden of his dilemma bowing his shoulders. Gia’s throat tightened. She wouldn’t let him choose. She couldn’t.

“I’m coming with you,” she said, squaring her shoulders.
