Power Play Heartbreak

I tilted my head up to look at him, my heart swelling in my chest. “I feel the same way,” I whispered, my voice heavy with emotion. “I was so scared I’d lost you. That you’d moved on without me.”

“Never,” Gideon vowed, his hand coming up to cup my cheek, his thumb stroking gently over my skin. “You’re it for me, Cassidy. My partner. My best friend. The love of my life. I’m not going anywhere without you ever again.”

I smiled, my eyes misting with tears, and leaned in to press a soft kiss to his lips. “I love you,” I murmured against his mouth, pouring every ounce of feeling into the words. “So much.”

“I love you too,” Gideon breathed, his arms tightening around me. “More than anything.”

We stayed like that for a long moment, just holding each other, the enormity of what we’d committed to sinking in. There would be challenges ahead, I knew – a new city, a new team, the constant scrutiny of the public eye. But I also knew that we could handle anything as long as we were together.

As the sun began to rise in earnest, its warm light filtering through the curtains and bathing the room in a soft glow, Gideon shifted beside me, his lips grazing my temple. “You know,” he murmured, his voice playful, “if we’re going to be partners both on and off the ice, we should probably start thinking about our next move.”

I raised an eyebrow, a smile playing at the edges of my mouth. “Oh yeah?” I teased. “And what did you have in mind?”

Gideon grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Well, for starters,” he said, leaning in close, his breath heating my ear, “I think we should probably seal the deal. Make it official.”

I shivered, my skin prickling with anticipation, and turned my head to capture his lips in a blistering kiss. “I like the way you think, Russo,” I whispered, my voice husky with desire.

Gideon chuckled, the sound low and rich, and rolled me beneath him, his body covering mine. “Good,” he growled, his lips trailing down the column of my throat. “Because I’m just getting started.”

As the sun rose over the city, marking the beginning of a new day and a new chapter in our lives, I let myself get lost in the moment, in the feel of Gideon’s skin against mine, his touch igniting a fire in my veins. We had faced the storms of the past few months together, and emerged stronger for it, our love a beacon guiding us home.

And as I surrendered to the pleasure of his kiss, to the promise of forever in his eyes, I knew that whatever the future held, we would face it together, hand in hand, heart to heart, until the very end.
