Starlit Synergy
But eventually, the call of nature and the growling of her stomach became too insistent to ignore. Carefully, gently, she extricated herself from their arms, pausing for a moment to look down at them—Leo on his back, one arm thrown over his head, his face relaxed in sleep; Marco on his stomach, his head pillowed on his arm, his lips slightly parted.
God, they were beautiful. And hers. The thought sent a warm thrill through her, a deep-seated satisfaction that settled in her bones.
Elena slipped out of bed and padded to the bathroom, taking care of business before splashing some water on her face and brushing her teeth. When she emerged, Leo was awake, propped up on one elbow, his sleepy smile warm and welcoming.
“Hey, you,” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. “Come back to bed.”
Elena smiled, crossing the room to slide back into bed beside him. “In a bit,” she promised, snuggling into his side. “I’m starving. And I need coffee.”
Leo chuckled, his arm tightening around her. “Of course you do,” he teased. “Priorities.”
Elena nipped at his chest, her teeth sharp enough to sting. “Always,” she agreed.
Marco stirred beside them, his arm snaking around Elena’s waist as he buried his face in her hair. “Mmm,” he mumbled. “You smell good.”
Elena laughed, her body shaking with it. “I smell like sex and sweat,” she corrected dryly.
Marco inhaled deeply, his lips curving into a smile against her neck. “I know,” he growled. “It’s my new favorite perfume.”
Elena rolled her eyes, but she was smiling too, her heart light and full. “You’re ridiculous,” she informed him.
“And you’re perfect,” Marco shot back, his lips brushing her shoulder. “So I guess we’re even.”
Elena shook her head, but she didn’t argue. How could she, when she felt so damn good?
They lay like that for a few more minutes, just savoring the closeness, the comfort of being together. But eventually, the need for sustenance won out. With a reluctant sigh, Elena pushed herself up, sitting back on her heels between them. “Okay, seriously,” she said. “Food. Coffee. Now.”
Leo and Marco exchanged a look, a silent conversation passing between them. Then, in a move so coordinated it was almost choreographed, they pounced, tackling her back to the bed, their hands tickling her ribs, her hips, the sensitive skin behind her knees. Elena shrieked with laughter, writhing between them, her hands pushing at their chests, their shoulders, anything to get them off her.
“Uncle!” she gasped, tears streaming down her face. “I call uncle!”
Leo and Marco stilled, their hands resting on her body, their eyes dark with laughter and something warmer, softer. “Okay,” Leo conceded, his smile wide and bright. “Food and coffee it is.”
“But first,” Marco added, his expression turning serious, “we should probably talk.”
Elena’s laughter faded, her body tensing slightly. She knew what he meant—knew they needed to check in, to make sure everyone was still okay with what had happened, what was happening. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t nervous about it.
“Okay,” she agreed, her voice soft. “Talk.”
Marco’s hand found hers, his fingers tangling with hers on the sheets. “Last night was…” He trailed off, his throat working as he swallowed. “It was amazing. Incredible. Beyond anything I ever imagined.”
“Agreed,” Leo murmured, his hand finding Elena’s other one, their fingers linking together. “Fucking mind-blowing.”
“But,” Marco continued, his thumb brushing hers. “I need to know… are you okay? Both of you? Was it… too much?”
Elena’s heart clenched at the vulnerability in his voice, at the genuine concern in his eyes. “No,” she whispered, her voice fierce. “No, it wasn’t too much. It was… it was everything.”
“More than okay,” Leo added, his hand tightening on hers. “It was perfect. You were perfect.”
Marco’s breath hitched, his eyes closing for a brief moment as he absorbed their words. When he opened them again, the relief in them was palpable, overwhelming. “Thank god,” he breathed. “Because I want… I want to keep doing this. If you’re both on board.”
Elena exchanged a look with Leo, a silent question passing between them. Are you okay with this? his eyes asked. Are you sure?
Elena’s nod was immediate, instinctive. She’d never been more sure of anything in her life.
“We’re on board,” Leo confirmed, his voice steady and sure. “One hundred percent.”
“Thank god,” Marco repeated, his body sagging with relief. “Because I don’t think I could give this up. Give you up.”
“You don’t have to,” Elena murmured, her free hand finding his face, her thumb brushing his cheek. “We don’t want you to.”
Marco’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes shining with emotion. “Okay,” he breathed. “Okay. So… we’re doing this. For real.”
“For real,” Elena agreed, her heart full to bursting.
Leo’s hand found the back of her neck, pulling her in for a slow, sweet kiss. “For real,” he murmured against her lips.
They sealed it with a three-way kiss, their lips brushing, their tongues tangling, their hands linking together on the sheets. It was a promise, a pact, a vow.
They were in this together—all in.
When they finally broke apart, they were breathless and flushed, their bodies humming with renewed want. But Elena’s stomach chose that moment to growl again, loud and long, and they all dissolved into laughter.
“Okay, okay,” Leo conceded, holding his hands up in surrender. “Food and coffee. Then… we’ll see what happens.”
Elena’s smile was pure wickedness. “Oh, I know exactly what’s going to happen,” she purred, her eyes dark with promise.
Marco’s grin was just as wicked. “Looking forward to it,” he growled.
But first—sustenance.
They piled out of bed and threw on some clothes—Elena in a loose sundress, Leo and Marco in board shorts and t-shirts. Leo headed to the kitchen to start coffee while Marco fired up the grill on the back deck, leaving Elena to rummage through the fridge for something to eat.
She emerged a few minutes later with a tray laden with fruit, yogurt, and pastries, setting it down on the picnic table on the deck just as Leo appeared with a carafe of coffee and three mugs.
“Breakfast is served,” Elena announced, sliding onto the bench and reaching for a mug.
“Thank god,” Marco groaned, plopping down beside her and immediately snagging a pastry. “I’m starving.”
“Sex will do that to you,” Leo quipped, pouring coffee for all three of them.
Elena rolled her eyes, but she was smiling as she spooned yogurt and berries into a bowl. “You’re both ridiculous,” she informed them.
“And you’re both amazing,” Marco shot back, his lips curving into a grin. “So I guess we’re even.”
They ate in companionable silence for a few minutes, the only sounds the chirping of birds, the lapping of water against the shore, and the occasional sigh of contentment. Elena couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt so peaceful, so utterly at ease.
When they were done, Leo started clearing the table, only for Marco to wave him off. “I’ll get it,” he said, standing and stretching languidly. “You guys go relax. I’ll take care of this and then join you.”
Leo didn’t argue, just shot him a grateful smile and held out a hand to Elena. “Come on, baby,” he murmured. “Let’s go dip our toes in the water.”
Elena took his hand, allowing him to pull her to her feet and lead her down to the dock. They kicked off their shoes and sat on the edge, their feet dangling in the cool, clear water.
“It’s beautiful here,” Elena sighed, leaning into Leo’s side. “I’m glad we came.”
“Me too,” Leo agreed, his arm wrapping around her shoulders. “Best idea ever.”
Elena hummed her agreement, her head resting on his shoulder. They sat like that for a few minutes, just watching the water, the trees, the birds wheeling overhead.
Marco joined them a few minutes later, plopping down on Elena’s other side with a contented sigh. “Fuck, this is nice,” he groaned, his feet splashing into the water.
Elena laughed, her shoulder bumping his. “Told you,” she sing-songed.
Marco bumped her back. “Brat,” he teased.
They spent the rest of the morning like that—swimming, sunbathing, napping in the shade. They talked about everything and nothing—their jobs, their families, their hopes and dreams for the future. They laughed and teased and touched, their hands always seeming to find each other, their bodies drawn together like magnets.
As the afternoon wore on, the air between them seemed to thicken, to grow heavy with want. Their touches lingered, their glances heated, their laughter taking on a sensual edge.
It was Marco who finally broke, his hand finding Elena’s thigh under the water, his touch hot and possessive. “Fuck, Elena,” he groaned, his voice rough with want. “I need you.”
Elena’s breath hitched, her body trembling at his touch. She wanted him too—wanted them both—with a ferocity that stole her breath.
