The Painted Hours

First TimeComplete

Leo’s chest rumbled with a soft, contented laugh. “Yes,” he agreed, his lips pressing a tender kiss to the top of Elias’s head. “You are perfect, Elias. Utterly and completely perfect.”

Elias blushed, ducking his head. “I didn’t… I didn’t do much,” he mumbled. “You… you did all the work.”

Leo chuckled. “Nonsense, mon cher,” he murmured, tilting Elias’s face up to meet his gaze. “The pleasure was all mine, I assure you. Watching you come apart in my arms, feeling you clench around me as you found your release… it was the most exquisite thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Elias’s blush deepened, his eyes dropping to Leo’s chest. “I… I want to please you, too,” he whispered. “I want to learn… to learn how to make you feel good.”

Leo’s smile softened, his thumb stroking along Elias’s cheekbone in a gentle caress. “You do, mon amour,” he murmured. “More than you know. Simply being here, in your arms, feeling your heart beat against mine… it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.”

Elias’s heart swelled, a fresh wave of love washing over him. “I love you, Leo,” he choked out. “I love you so very much.”

Leo’s arms tightened around him, his lips pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Elias’s forehead. “And I love you, Elias,” he whispered. “More than words can say. More than I ever thought possible.”

They lay like that for a long moment, wrapped in each other’s arms, the silence broken only by the soft, steady sound of their breathing and the constant hiss of the sand slipping through the hourglass.

“So,” Leo murmured after a long moment. “Tell me, mon amour. What are your hopes? Your dreams? What do you want from this life we’ve been given?”

Elias considered for a moment, his fingers tracing idle patterns on Leo’s chest. “I want… I want to paint,” he said softly. “To create beauty, to share my vision with the world. I want… I want to travel, to see all the wonders this world has to offer. And… and I want to do it all with you by my side, Leo. I want to build a life with you. A home. A family.”

Leo’s smile widened, his eyes crinkling at the corners with genuine warmth. “A family, hmm?” he murmured, his hand sliding down to rest on Elias’s hip. “I like the sound of that, mon cher. Very much.”

Elias blushed, ducking his head. “I… I know it’s too soon to be thinking of such things,” he mumbled. “But… but I can’t help it. When I think of the future, all I see is you. Your smile. Your laugh. Your… your love.”

Leo’s lips curved into a soft, indulgent smile. “It’s not too soon, mon amour,” he murmured. “It’s never too soon to dream of a future with the one you love.” He leaned in then, his lips brushing against Elias’s in a soft, tender kiss. “And I do dream of a future with you, Elias. Of a home filled with love and laughter. Of children, if you wish it. Of a life spent creating beauty together, side by side.”

Elias’s heart soared, a giddy wave of joy washing over him. “Yes,” he choked out. “Yes, Leo. That’s… that’s exactly what I want. A life with you. A family with you. A… a forever with you.”

Leo’s arms tightened around him, his lips pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Elias’s temple. “Then that is what we shall have, mon amour,” he whispered. “A forever, together. No matter what.”

They lay like that for hours, talking and laughing, sharing their hopes and dreams, their fears and insecurities. They spoke of their childhoods, of their families, of the experiences that had shaped them into the men they were today.

As the first soft rays of dawn began to creep through the tall studio windows, Leo turned the hourglass, the sand beginning its slow, steady journey once more. He pulled Elias closer, his lips pressing a soft, tender kiss to the top of his head.

“Sleep, mon cher,” he murmured. “I’ll watch over you.”

Elias nodded, his eyes fluttering closed as he sank into the warm, safe haven of Leo’s arms. For the first time in his life, he felt truly at peace, truly loved, truly… home.

And as he drifted off to sleep, he knew that no matter what the future held, no matter what challenges they faced, he would always have Leo by his side. His lover. His best friend. His forever.

The first rays of dawn had barely begun to creep through the tall studio windows when Elias stirred, his eyes fluttering open as he slowly returned to wakefulness. For a moment, he felt only warmth, only contentment, the steady thump of Leo’s heart beneath his ear a soothing, familiar rhythm. But then, as the last vestiges of sleep fell away, the memories of the night before came rushing back, and with them, a wave of vulnerability so intense it stole the breath from his lungs.

He tensed, his cheeks flushing hot as he remembered the way he had wantonly yielded to Leo’s touch, the way he had cried out his name as he had found his release. He had been so exposed, so utterly open, body and soul. What must Leo think of him now? What if he regretted what they had done? What if he thought Elias too forward, too… wanton?

As if sensing his turmoil, Leo’s arms tightened around him, his lips pressing a soft, tender kiss to the top of his head. “Bonjour, mon cher,” he murmured, his voice a low, sleepy rumble. “Did you sleep well?”

Elias swallowed hard, his throat tight. “Leo,” he choked out. “I… I don’t… I don’t know what to say. I… I feel so… exposed.”

Leo shifted, turning to face him, his hand coming up to cup Elias’s cheek. “Elias,” he murmured, his dark eyes fixed on Elias’s face, his expression tender, understanding. “Mon amour. Look at me.”

Elias hesitated for a long moment before finally forcing himself to meet Leo’s gaze. What he saw there made his breath catch in his throat. Love. Adoration. A fierce, unwavering tenderness that stole the air from his lungs.

“You are beautiful, mon cher,” Leo whispered. “So very, very beautiful. And what we shared last night… it was a gift. A precious, perfect gift. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing to regret.”

Elias’s eyes welled with tears, his heart swelling with emotion. “Leo,” he choked out. “I… I love you. So very much.”

Leo smiled, his thumb stroking along Elias’s cheekbone in a gentle caress. “And I love you, Elias,” he murmured. “More than I ever thought possible.”

He leaned in then, his lips brushing against Elias’s in a soft, tender kiss that quickly deepened. Elias melted into it, his arms coming up to wrap around Leo’s neck, his fingers tangling in the soft hair at his nape.

“Make love to me, Leo,” he whispered against his lips. “Please. I need… I need to feel you. To know that this is real. That we are real.”

Leo’s eyes darkened with want. “With pleasure, mon amour,” he murmured. He rolled Elias onto his back, settling himself between his thighs. “Let me worship you, Elias. Let me show you how very much I love you.”

And as the morning sun streamed through the windows, bathing them in a warm, golden light, Leo did just that, his hands and lips and body moving over Elias’s with a reverence that left him breathless and trembling, his heart so full it felt near to bursting.

The days that followed passed in a haze of bliss, a golden, sun-drenched dream from which Elias never wanted to wake. He and Leo spent every moment together, stealing kisses in the shadowed alcoves of the chateau, walking hand-in-hand through the sun-dappled woods, making love in the big, soft bed in Leo’s room, the windows thrown open to the warm, jasmine-scented breeze.

But all too soon, the end of the residency loomed, a heavy, unwelcome reminder of the world that waited beyond the ivy-covered walls of the chateau.

On their last full day, Elias and Leo found themselves in the studio, standing side by side before a large, blank canvas. The hourglass sat on the windowsill nearby, the sand inside steadily slipping through the narrow aperture, a silent, constant reminder of the precious hours that remained to them.

Elias glanced at Leo, a soft, tender smile playing at the corners of his lips. “Shall we?” he murmured, his hand reaching for a brush.

Leo returned his smile, his dark eyes glinting with a warm, affectionate light. “Together, mon amour,” he said softly, picking up a palette knife.

And so they began to paint, their hands moving in perfect harmony, their colors blending and swirling together on the canvas. They spoke little as they worked, their silence a comfortable, companionable thing, broken only by the soft scrape of bristles on canvas, the occasional murmur of endearment, the steady hiss of the sand slipping through the glass.
