The Rope and the Ribbon
Later, after I’ve bundled a sleepy Leo into an Uber with strict instructions to text me when he’s home safe, I stand in the quiet studio, the weight of the evening settling over me. The half-written recipe card catches my eye, and I pick it up, smoothing the creased paper.
‘No-Bake Energy Balls,’ it reads, the ink smudged where I must have grabbed it with damp hands. ‘1 cup oats, ¼ cup –’
I trace the words with one finger, a smile tugging at my lips. In the morning, I’ll finish it. For now, I leave it propped against the fruit bowl, a promise of tomorrow.
Later, in the quiet kitchen aftermath scene, Leo processes his experience while making tea. He formally acknowledges Cass as his dominant. The story closes with him claiming his submissive identity through a small act of service - finishing the energy ball recipe.
The next evening, Leo arrives early, a brown paper bag in hand and a quiet purpose in his eyes.
"I brought groceries," he says, setting the bag on the counter with deliberate care. "Thought I could make those energy balls. If that’s alright."
I raise an eyebrow, leaning against the doorframe. "Someone’s been doing his research," I say, my tone light but approving.
He flushes slightly. "Figured I should get it right," he says. "Seems important."
I hide a smile, content to watch as he moves around my kitchen with a new kind of confidence – not the brash bravado of our first meeting, but something quieter, more centered.
"Cass?" he says, his voice soft but steady.
I glance up from where I’ve been pretending to check my email. "Yes, Leo?"
He sets the bowl aside, wiping his hands on a dishtowel before turning to face me fully. "I’ve been thinking," he says. "About last night. About... everything."
I wait, letting him find the words.
"I want this," he says. "Not just the scenes, not just the rope. I want to belong to you. Fully. As your submissive."
The air leaves my lungs in a slow, steadying breath. "You’re sure?" I ask.
"I’m sure," he says, no hesitation in his tone.
I close the distance between us, my hand coming up to cup his jaw. "Then yes," I say. "I’d be honored to be your dominant."
His breath hitches, his eyes fluttering closed for a brief moment before meeting mine again, shining with a fierce, quiet joy. "Thank you," he whispers.
"I know you won’t," I say, and press a soft, claiming kiss to his forehead.
When I step back, he returns to the counter, his movements imbued with a new sense of purpose. He picks up the recipe card, his gaze lingering on the smudged ink before he reaches for a pen.
‘No-Bake Energy Balls,’ he writes. ‘1 cup oats, ¼ cup honey, ¼ cup peanut butter, 2 tbsp flaxseed. Combine well, roll into balls, refrigerate 1 hour. Makes 12.’
He sets the pen down, a quiet satisfaction in the line of his shoulders. When he turns to me, there’s a question in his eyes.
"Perfect," I say.
He smiles, a full, unguarded thing. "They’ll be ready for your workshop tomorrow," he says. "I’ll make sure of it."
I watch him work, this man who walked into my studio with a gym bag and a too-bright grin, and feel a fierce, protective warmth spread through my chest.
"Coach?" he says, his voice teasing.
"Leo?" I reply, my tone deliberately mild.
He grins. "Think you can keep up?"
I laugh. "Not yet, you don’t," I say.
His grin widens. "We’ll see about that," he murmurs.
