Velvet Hours
Alex’s eyes soften, their grip on my hand tightening. “Rowan, there’s nothing weird or freakish or wrong about you. You’re perfect, just as you are. This...” They gesture to the dress, the makeup, the heels. “This is just another facet of that perfection. Another layer of your beauty.”
I close my eyes, a tear slipping down my cheek. Alex catches it with their thumb, wiping it away with a tender touch.
“Don’t hide from me, Rowan,” Alex murmurs, their voice low and intense. “Don’t hide yourself, your truth, your beauty. I love you, all of you, exactly as you are.”
I open my eyes, my vision blurred by tears. Alex’s face is a portrait of love, acceptance, devotion. I see no judgment, no confusion, no rejection. Only love, pure and simple and true.
“I love you too,” I whisper, my voice breaking. “I love you so much.”
Alex smiles, their free hand coming up to cup my face. They lean in, their lips brushing against mine in a soft, sweet kiss. The velvet rustles between us, the lace scratches against my thighs, the glove sheathes my arm in sleek satin. Each sensation is heightened, magnified, by the intensity of the moment.
Alex pulls back, their eyes shining with emotion. “You’re incredible, Rowan. Inside and out. Never forget that.”
I nod, my heart full, my spirit light. For the first time in my life, I feel truly seen, truly known, truly loved.
“Now,” Alex says, their smile turning playful. “How about that breakfast? I make a mean omelet.”
I laugh, the sound bubbling up from deep inside me, light and free. “I’d love that,” I say, my voice clear and strong. “But first...” I gesture to the makeup strewn across the floor. “Help me clean up this mess?”
Alex grins, already bending to gather the scattered cosmetics. “Your wish is my command, my lady.”
We work together in companionable silence, our movements synchronized, our hands brushing against each other as we gather the scattered makeup. When the last lipstick is back in the bag, Alex zips it closed, their fingers lingering on the leather.
“All done,” they say, their voice soft. “Now, about that omelet...”
They take my hand, leading me out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. The sun is higher now, the city outside alive with the sounds of morning. Alex cracks eggs into a bowl, their movements efficient and practiced. I watch them, my heart full, my spirit light.
We eat at the small kitchen table, the omelet hot and fluffy, the coffee strong and bitter. We talk of everything and nothing, our voices low and intimate. Alex tells me about their canceled client, about their plans for the day. I listen, my eyes tracing the lines of their face, the curve of their smile.
When the plates are empty, the coffee cups drained, Alex takes my hand again, leading me back to the bedroom. The velvet gown is a warm weight against my skin, the heels a comforting presence on my feet. Miso follows, jumping onto the bed as soon as we pull back the covers.
We lie together in the soft light of dawn, our bodies intertwined, our breath mingling in the quiet. Alex’s hand rests on my hip, their thumb stroking the velvet in a slow, soothing rhythm. Miso curls at our feet, his purr a steady vibration in the stillness.
“Thank you,” I whisper, my voice hushed in the intimacy of the moment. “For everything.”
Alex smiles, their eyes soft and warm. “Thank you,” they murmur back. “For trusting me. For sharing yourself with me.”
I nestle closer, my head pillowed on their chest. The velvet gown shifts with my movements, the fabric whispering against my skin. I feel safe, loved, accepted. I feel whole.
As the dawn light grows stronger, painting the room in shades of gold and pink, I feel my eyes grow heavy, my body relax. Alex’s breathing evens out, their hand going slack on my hip. Miso’s purr deepens, his body a warm weight at our feet.
I drift off to sleep, still cradled in Alex’s arms, still wrapped in velvet and lace. For the first time in my life, I am exactly where I belong. I am home.
