Midnight Swim
The night air is electric, humming with anticipation as I step onto the rooftop for the last time. The pool glimmers, a liquid mirror reflecting the city lights, the water still and waiting. I take a deep breath, the scent of chlorine and my own perfume, Byredo's Bal d'Afrique, mingling in the cool air. Tonight is different. Tonight, I swim for an audience of one.
I adjust the strap of my high-cut red swimsuit, the material clinging to my skin like a second layer. My water-themed tattoo seems to shimmer in the low light, the blues and greens rippling like the pool itself. I walk to the edge, my bare feet silent on the tile, and look out over the city. The usual hum of traffic is a distant whisper, the world holding its breath for this final performance.
The security guard, Marco, nods to me from his post by the elevator. "He's on his way up," he says, his voice low. "Kai. Seems nice enough. Quiet."
I nod, a flutter of nerves in my belly. "Thanks, Marco. I appreciate it."
"Anything for you, River," he says with a smile. "Just... be careful, okay? It's your last night. Make it count."
"I will," I promise, and then the elevator dings, and my breath catches in my throat.
The doors slide open, and there Kai is. Tall and lean, with sharp green eyes that seem to pierce right through me. They're wearing a simple white t-shirt and dark jeans, and as they step closer, I catch the subtle, woody scent of Le Labo's Santal 33. It suits them, warm and grounding.
"River," they say, their voice low and smooth, a caress of sound. "It's good to finally meet you in person."
"Kai," I breathe, and then they're stepping closer, their eyes never leaving mine. "I'm glad you came."
"I wouldn't have missed it," they say, and then they're standing right in front of me, close enough to touch. "This place... it's even more beautiful than I imagined."
"It's special," I agree, my voice soft. "And tonight, it's ours."
I step back, putting a little space between us, and gesture to the pool. "I hope you're ready for a show."
"I'm ready for anything," Kai says, their eyes dark with promise.
I turn and walk to the edge of the pool, feeling their gaze on my body like a physical touch. I dive in, the water parting for me like a lover's embrace, cool and silken against my skin. I push off from the wall, my body slicing through the water in slow, deliberate strokes. My movements are languid, unhurried, each kick a deliberate caress of the water. I roll onto my back, floating, letting the city lights paint patterns on my wet skin. The camera is off tonight. This show is just for Kai.
I can feel their eyes on me, hot and focused, as I swim. I dive deep, skimming the tiled bottom, then surge upwards, breaking the surface in a spray of diamonds. Water streams from my short-cropped dark hair, down my neck, between my shoulder blades. I run my hands over my body, tracing the lines of muscle, the curve of my hip, the way the suit rides up when I kick. I'm a creature of the water, and Kai is watching.
I swim to the shallow end, standing to let the water stream off my body. I run my hands through my hair, slicking it back, knowing how the light catches the water on my skin. I trace the lines of my tattoo, the blues and greens swirling like the pool itself, and smile at Kai, slow and languid. Their breath catches, a sharp intake of air that sends a thrill through me.
I dive backward, arching my body, letting the water embrace me again. I swim underwater for a few strokes, my body a pale shape beneath the surface, then roll onto my back, floating, eyes closed, letting the city lights paint patterns on my eyelids. The night air is cool on my wet skin, a delicious contrast to the water's embrace. I know Kai is watching every droplet, every ripple, every slow, sensual movement. This is my gift to them, this intimacy, this closeness.
As the night deepens, my movements become more explicit, more inviting. I let my hands linger on my body, tracing the lines of my swimsuit, the curve of my breasts, the dip of my waist. I kick my legs, letting the water swirl around my thighs, my suit riding up to reveal more skin. I dive and surface, again and again, each time letting the water cascade off my body in a sensual display.
Kai watches from the edge of the pool, their eyes dark with desire, their body tense with restraint. I can feel the tension building between us, a palpable thing in the cool night air. The city lights shimmer on the water, the ticking clock of the impending closure adding urgency to every movement, every shared glance.
I swim to the edge, resting my arms on the tile, looking up at Kai. "Do you want to come in?" I ask, my voice low and inviting. "The water's perfect."
Kai's eyes widen, a flicker of surprise and desire in their green depths. "I didn't bring a suit," they say, their voice rough with want.
I smile, slow and wicked. "Who said anything about a suit?"
Kai's breath catches, and then they're reaching for the hem of their t-shirt, pulling it over their head in one fluid motion. Their chest is lean and toned, a dusting of dark hair trailing down their stomach and disappearing into the waistband of their jeans. They toe off their shoes, then their hands are on the button of their jeans, popping it open, sliding the zipper down. They push the jeans down their hips, stepping out of them and standing before me in just their boxer briefs, dark and clinging to their skin.
I let my eyes roam over their body, appreciating the lines of muscle, the trail of hair, the obvious bulge in their briefs. "Come on in," I say, my voice a low purr. "The water's waiting."
Kai takes a step forward, then another, and then they're diving over my head, their body slicing into the water with barely a splash. They surface a few feet away, shaking the water from their hair, their eyes finding mine instantly.
I push off from the edge, swimming towards them, the water swirling around my body. We meet in the middle of the pool, the water chest-high on both of us. I reach out, running my hands over Kai's shoulders, feeling the warmth of their skin beneath my palms. They shiver at my touch, their eyes fluttering closed for a moment.
"River," they breathe, and then their hands are on my waist, pulling me closer, our bodies sliding together beneath the water.
I wrap my arms around their neck, my legs tangling with theirs, the water supporting us, buoying us up. Our bodies fit together like puzzle pieces, chest to chest, hip to hip. I can feel the heat of their skin through the thin fabric of my swimsuit, the press of their desire against my stomach.
We float like that for a long moment, just breathing together, the city lights painting patterns on the water around us. The tension is thick between us, a living thing, but there's a sweetness to it, a sense of anticipation rather than urgency.
"This is perfect," Kai murmurs, their lips brushing my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.
"It is," I agree, tilting my head to give them better access. "But I think we can make it even better."
Kai pulls back slightly, their eyes finding mine, a question in their green depths. I smile, slow and full of promise, and then I'm pulling away, swimming backwards towards the shallow end, my body slicing through the water. "Come and get me," I call over my shoulder, my voice teasing.
Kai's eyes darken with desire, and then they're pushing off, swimming after me, their powerful strokes eating up the distance between us. I let them catch me at the shallow end, their arms wrapping around my waist from behind, pulling me back against their chest. I can feel their desire, hard and hot against my back, even through the layers of fabric between us.
I lean back into their embrace, tilting my head to look up at them. "Kiss me," I demand, my voice low and rough with want.
Kai doesn't hesitate. They lean down, their lips brushing mine, once, twice, a tease of contact. I make a frustrated noise in the back of my throat, and then they're kissing me for real, their lips slanting over mine, their tongue licking into my mouth, hot and wet and demanding.
